How it ages

22 of the Library’s 1215 addresses no longer answer — 1.8%. Below, the same figure split by the year a thing was first recommended and by what kind of thing it was. Every number is computed from the entries when this page is built, so none of it is transcribed and none of it goes stale.

What this cannot measureThis counts addresses that failed, so it misses anything that died behind a page which still loads. Omnivore has answered 200 since the day its service was switched off. Those are recorded separately and by hand — 1 ended and 0 quiet today — and they are deliberately not added in, because a weekly measurement and somebody’s judgement do not sum to anything. The real rot is at least the figure below. The newest thing known to be broken was first recorded as failing on 2 Sep 2026.

One host is not one failure

One host holds more than one of the 22 dead addresses. That changes what the number means: a storefront that reorganised its URLs is one event, not 5 things that rotted. A share that hid this would be true and would mislead.
